In May 2026, the Erasmus+ SEED project was represented at the Educational Studies Association of Ireland (ESAI) Annual Conference at the University of Galway.

Our workshop, “SEED Project: Transformative Change through Microcredentials in Zambia and Malawi Higher Education,” brought Bernie Grummell, Margaret Nugent and Wilma van Staden together to share emerging insights from the project and open a discussion on the potential of microcredentials to support transformative change.

The workshop explored how flexible learning pathways can contribute to institutional capacity building, respond to learner and community needs, and support more sustainable educational futures.

The discussions at ESAI provided a valuable opportunity to test emerging ideas with the wider educational research community. These conversations also helped frame questions that continued into SEED’s June mobility in Malawi, where partners worked with universities, communities and national stakeholders to move emerging microcredentials towards implementation.
